BCA played a role as one of the pioneers of Sustainable Finance initiated by the Financial Services Authority through the “First Movers on Sustainable Banking” throughout 2015-2017 which was developed into the Indonesian Sustainable Finance Initiative (IKBI) in May 2018. As one of the founders of IKBI, BCA continues to support the initiative.
In accordance Government Regulation on Sustainability (POJK 51) and global issue that demands the attention of our stakeholders, our approach to sustainability is guided by our sense of purpose: To create long term value and manage responsible balance business decision. We do this through our three sustainability pillars – Sustainable Banking, Sustainable Operation, and CSR & Financial Inclusion as well as aligning our framework to UN SDGs, SUSBA, MSCI, SASB, and GRI Reporting Standards.

As one of the first movers on sustainable banking in Indonesia, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (“BNI”) mobilizes energy from all people of BNI to continue to be at the forefront of effecting sustainable finance. We believe that what we have been performing is in line with sustainable development, in addition to enhance the resilience and competitiveness of BNI itself.
BRI started its ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) implementation journey by consistently publishing its Sustainability Report from 2013, long before Indonesia’s FSA (Financial Service Authority) issued FSA regulation 51/2017 in 2017. In 2015, BRI became one of the few banks in Indonesia that took part in the First Mover on Sustainable Banking initiative initiated by the FSA and was later appointed as the chairman from 2018 up until the present.
